Using Photo Sharing Sites

Photo sharing sites can be a great fun way to do group projects in a classroom. One activity that I think would be fun is to do a pen pal type assignment with another classroom in another country. Each classroom could share photos with each other of their classwork, extracurricular activities, pictures of what students enjoy doing outside of the school, pictures of their surrounding community and geographic area. It would be really exciting to see first hand what other student experience through photography in other parts of the world.

I like that students can immediately see pictures of important events through out the world almost as it is happening. For example the Haiti relief effort. Another activity would be to pick a breaking news story and search to see what photos they can find on the story and create a digital collage of some sort.

Even though these activities would be great to use it would take some practice from both the teacher and the students to get familiar with the downloading and uploading of photos.
